Indoor ski hall in Tamworth

The "SnowDome" in Tamworth, England, is not a traditional restaurant in the traditional sense, but a versatile leisure and experience center, known as the first indoor ski resort in Britain. Since its opening in May 1994, the SnowDome has established itself as a leading destination for snow, ice, and leisure activities, with culinary offerings playing an important role in rounding out the visit. The center is located in the heart of Tamworth, a town in Staffordshire, and is a popular meeting place for families, adventurers, and food enthusiasts looking for a well-deserved meal after a day full of activities. The culinary heart of the SnowDome is "Aspen's Bar & Kitchen," complemented by other options such as "Lifthouse Coffee Co.," together offering a wide range of food and drinks.

Culinary experience at SnowDome

The atmosphere at Aspen's Bar & Kitchen is characterized by an alpine theme, inspired by the mountains of Aspen in the 1950s. The decor combines modern elements with a touch of rusticity: Red tones, elk designs, and cozy seating options such as tipis or fire pit nooks create a unique environment that invites you to linger. Large windows offer views of the snow-covered slope, making dining a special experience while watching skiers and snowboarders. The Lifthouse Coffee Co., on the other hand, offers a brighter, more modern atmosphere with a focus on coffee and smaller snacks – perfect for a quick break.

Family-friendly restaurant in Tamworth

Culinarily, Aspen's Bar & Kitchen brings a mix of hearty and light dishes to the table, reflecting the alpine character. A highlight is the "Bearhug Burger," a juicy burger with fresh ingredients that impresses with its size and flavor, perfect for hungry guests after an active day. Equally popular are the "Snowboard Pizzas," which score with crispy crust and rich toppings like spicy pepperoni or creamy cheese – an option that delights both children and adults. For a lighter indulgence, there are the "Campfire Starters," small bites that with their smoky flavor evoke a campfire in the mountains. The Lifthouse Coffee Co. complements the offerings with freshly brewed, ethically sourced coffee and artisanal treats like the "Project D Artisan Donuts," which are highlighted as particularly delicious and a highlight with their fluffy texture and sweet glaze.

Restaurant with alpine theme

The drink menu at the SnowDome is equally diverse: Aspen's offers a selection of cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks that complement the relaxed atmosphere, while the Lifthouse offers special coffee creations and refreshing handmade drinks. The restaurant emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients, enhancing the taste of the dishes and establishing a connection to the region. In addition to dining, the SnowDome also offers the opportunity to combine the culinary experience with activities such as skiing on the 170-meter slope, ice skating, or swimming, making the visit a comprehensive experience.

Activities and dining Tamworth

The service at the SnowDome is often described as friendly and accommodating, with staff striving to provide guests with a pleasant experience despite the sometimes hectic environment – especially on weekends or during holidays. Aspen's Bar & Kitchen also offers innovative seating options and the flexibility to dine indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather and preferences. For families, the restaurant is particularly attractive as it offers child-friendly options and a relaxed atmosphere that also caters to the youngest guests.

Had an amazing time. Went to TSA amd spoke to a very knowledgeable and friendly staff member Ellie who helped me no end. Got me demoing boards that were a good fit for me and answered any questions I had. The slope was great and was groomed again at lunch time to keep in good condition. The slope is different compared to milton keynes and castleford as a bowl area at the top and a corner compared to straight runs. Would totally recommend to a boarder.

I came today with my wife and we both have never been before. This was my first time along with my wife. Within the group some took to it quickly and some like myself not and I felt rushed and not really taught as expected. I was being rushed before I was ready and I started to hurt my self because your instructor was just trying to push us through the motions. If you actually had 2 instructors you could evaluate how people did and then maybe seperate the group. I am now in pain and thats your fault. I had to come off after a short time because I was in too much pain. I don't expect a one on one instruction but also you should teach the lesson to the slowest person. Unless you provided more instructors. There was 10 people in our group that's around £1200 for the 3 hours and you can't afford 2 instructors. There wasn't really any teaching going on more just put your feet like this and get on with it! One lady in our group because she didn't feel confident enough had been left alone at the start and our instructor doesn't seem to care one bit. Disgraceful. As I'm writing this she has just fallen and no one is there to help. Honestly feel really disappointed in the instructor and this centre. I have noticed another instructor placed rubber matts to help with the first walking up side ways our instructor didn't do this and this may have helped a lot. Honestly I'm so angry I've spent so much to come away in pain and no one gave a crap. The instructor was rubbish. I don't advice anyone new to this yo ever have a group session here.

Pretty busy but nothing new with that. Plenty of staff, run kept well, plenty of services available and about as good as you can hope for when trying to ski in England.

Got asked to leave the building after trying to rekinder how to ski from a child which is why you go and pay for you time and ski equipment. Fell over twice and got asked to leave site . Asked to speak to the manager but neither the staff downstairs nor the lady's on the front desk would help allocate me to the rite person in charge. Very disappointed.

The location and food are great. But the waitresses are lazy, she didn't clean the table even if I asked her, she left two glasses of water from previous clients, she forgot to bring the drinks, and after I asked her about them she said that they are preparing them. After 10 minutes I go to her computer and ask her again about our drinks but she forgot and she said they will come... and when I called her and waved at her to bring the bill she was chating with her colleague and no paying attention to us. Everyone was looking at us exept of them and I felt embarassed. In the end we went to pay at the bar and we explain the situation to the bartender. They removed the drinks from the bill because we waited too long. The restaurant was not full of people so there was no excuse for the drinks to be late and to be treated like that. Please teach your employees how to be professional... work is work no matter what job you do. Please hire employees that they love their job not lazy people that act like that. Other than that, this is a cozy place to watch people having fun on the slope.

Can never get in for aqua unless youre a member. The place is useless, the high prices of activities, extortionately high food and drink prices and rip off parking that doesn't even give enough time to drop off disabled visitors before you have to pay ...10 minutes. Sadly I can no longer recommend the place due to the ridiculous parking charges. 2.50 for up to 2 hours, 4.50 over. Making a drink after a swim very expensive indeed.

I had a fantastic time. I booked onto the Learn to ski in a day lesson, and it worked, perfectly. Big thanks to the coaches Mike and Gareth. They were very patient as it was a big group and coached us through all the steps. It can't be easy coaching a big group of different capabilities, but I think they did really well. I highly recommend this for someone who's going on a ski holiday and wants to learn before going.

I started snowboarding here today and my instructor, Paul C, was absolutely amazing. He is a good man who gets to know you so that you feel comfortable and relaxed whilst learning. I will definitely be coming back.

Unhelpful staff, not very intelligent design of lessons and passes. I don’t understand why they would place a lesson right in the middle of a ski pass day where you can’t use the time before or after unless you either buy a full day or purchase two separate hours which is even more expensive. Either scamming your customers or using the brain faculty is a work in progress for you AND… they don’t rent out clothing, they have an expensive shop with minimum spend of £420 for outfit and probably won’t have your size unless you’re very big. So you are looking for £600 upwards for smaller sizes
